A few weeks ago, I bid on a piece of art on Creature Comforts blog, the proceeds for which were going to help fund Elijah Wyman's kidney transplant. It was a blind auction, so I didn't know what anyone else was bidding and while I loved the painting, I didn't think I had a snowball's chance in you know where to win. However, I won anyway. And today, my sweet sweet package arrived.
It was almost too pretty to open. I say almost, because I can usually overcome that initial hesitance. I love how the ribbon and the combo brooch/hair tie coordinate with the painting I won. And I love how the brooch/hair tie is a two in one. That frilly part around the outside can come off, leaving just the flower in the middle, for a more subtle look. Such a fabulous idea!
The painting itself is just as beautiful as I knew it would be. So Audrey Hepburn-ish. I think it will get a spot in the bedroom, as art is lacking in there and I want to look at it a lot! A set of super awesome 19th century animal art tags which will soon be available at Wren Eleven were also included.
Even after my moment of fright at finding out that I had won, I feel good about giving to someone who really needed it and I love this painting so much that it was worth it! It's good to know that there are still people out there who care about the rest of humanity. That makes me feel hopeful.
