Over the course of this post, I will prove three things.
1. Mini vacations are the best.
2. Kristin is the coolest person alive and also has the loveliest children ever.
3. Brian and I are lazy, horrible people. But we are mostly ok with it.
Let us start with a picture of my yard the day we left.
We had enjoyed a few days of warmish weather and while it was cold the day we left -- about 15 degrees -- we had lost most of our snow cover. For which I am very happy!
Anyway, we drove up to Minneapolis on Monday. Brian had a trade show and I tagged along. We took two cars, because I can't drive a stick and Brian thought he might need his car mid-show and I didn't like the idea of being stranded somewhere. Two cars was super fun, because I listened to my ipod the whole way and sang super loud and grooved out to the max. I can't do that when Brian's in the car, because he gets this look that makes me feel like I might be making his ear drums bleed. When we got there, we met at the hotel -- after I got turned back around, because I missed my turn gawking at a puppy. Then, I rode with Brian over to the Hyatt to help him set up his trade show booth. I'd never seen it before, so I took a picture.
I helped hang the posters, because they were all wonky when Brian did it. And I'm anal. Then, we ate lunch and went to IKEA, where I bought the cutest fabric ever.
It was in the remnant section, so I got like, 3 yards for $7.99. It has a giraffe driving a strawberry car. I'm in love.
Then, we went back to the hotel, had dinner, went to sleep, had really weird dreams -- well, I did, anyway -- and then woke up nice and early the next day. Brian went to work and I WENT TO SEE KRISTIN! Kristin runs a Waldorf preschool and I went and helped her amuse the childrens! And I got to meet Julen for the first time and I'm pretty sure I left part of myself wrapped around his little finger, because he is the BEST. BABY. EVER!
I mean, seriously! Look at him! *sigh* He's so happy and cuddley and wonderful and I could just eat him up! I dare you to look at his dimples and not say "Aww!" I DARE YOU!
And what about Peanut? He's going to be breaking hearts any day now! I've never known such a creative, curious, smart little boy.
There was a small group of kids on Tuesday, so we played and I read a bunch of books and we had snack and then there was rest time and I sang "Scarbourough Fair" a million times, since I couldn't figure out the Lyre. And then we got up and had circle time and went to play outside and I had what was probably the best time I've had in a really long time. Kristin and I got to talk about all kinds of things and I got to cuddle four really wonderful children and it did alot to calm the arm-achey feeling I get when I stop to think about not having little ones of my own. Because I would let any of those kids live at my house if they needed to. And I would love them to pieces. I'm just like that. All children become "my" children, if I'm around them enough. And "enough" is usually 5 minutes.
Then, on Wednesday, I googled "minneapolis fabric stores" and found two near my hotel. Because one was a store that I had shopped at online, I decided to go to that one. Well, turns out it's not there anymore. Or, at least they aren't open for people to come in. So, after that slight detour and disappointment, I decided to drive home. And I don't really have any pictures of that, because you don't really need/want to see pictures of all the places I stopped to pee. However, to break up the monatany of too many words and not enough pictures, I will show you some sculpture from a new rest stop in Iowa.
Brian and I thought they were really cool. I like the dude with the umbrella the best. It's a really nice rest stop, as far as that sort of thing goes, but it's not on the way to Minneapolis. So... just pretend.
I talked to Vanessa on the way home and so I guess I was otherwise occupied when I walked in the house, because I walked through the kitchen 4 times before I realized that something was different.
And then, this morning, before typing this post, I ate a Dilly Bar for breakfast, because I didn't want to dirty any of the dishes.
The End.
HAHHAA!!!
You make me giggle.
I am having a melt down day. You know when you plan 1 wonderful thing you are itching to do, and then 47,092 things happen to make you realzie that the universe is not going to let you do that ONE thing you were so anxious and eager to do :)
Soooooo, now I am here visiting you - and thinking of calling you. And hoping you are not working so you can amuse me with our totally like minded banter.
But not before I plan on how to barbecue that beautiful baby with you ;) Gobble gobble. Can you imagine if someone took that seriously? I'd be arrested.
Okay, I don't really want to join Sarah in eating little children, no really, I don't!!
But, those boys are beautiful I mean, so beautiful it is incredibly amazing!!!!
If I ever have a child, which I don't see that happening. But, if I do. You are going to be the godmother, for sure.
You are the only person who I know will, feed my kids yummy things, sew them happy things, and sing to them lovely. See, all things that end with a "y"
Because, every kid in the world, needs a week with AUntie Small Foxling!!!!
And i mean every kid, in the WHOLE wooooorld.

I'm lazy, too. and I really really really dislike doing the dishes, probably due to childhood trauma of being locked in the kitchen with them until 'it smells clean in there' hah! :D

Hey, Vanessa is not allowed to barbecue Julen and eat him. That just isn't fair!
