A friend of mine from high school was lamenting on Facebook the other day about how she really wanted a nursing cover, but couldn't find one in a fabric she liked. I told her that I would try to make her one if she sent me some fabric.

So, she went shopping, while I perused the interwebs to figure out what the heck a nursing cover was supposed to look like. It's basically a large rectangle of fabric with a neck strap and a piece of boning in it. The boning makes the cover pop out at the top, so you can look at your baby while nursing and also so that the baby doesn't get over-heated.

I had just started plotting a pattern, when my friend sent me this tutorial. I tweaked it quite a bit, because there were some things about it I didn't like, but it will give you a good start if you are interested in making one for yourself or someone you love!
Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing as I need to make one of these, too.
